CBUSU International Student Scholarship

Information:

  • Open to Undergraduate or Post-Baccalaureate International students.

  • Three (3) scholarships valued at $1000 each.

  • Applications will be received from Monday, October 20th until Friday, November 7th at 4:00PM.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be currently registered as a CBU student and Students’ Union fee-paying member (not open to Master’s students).

  • Applicants must have a minimum academic average of 80% over their last two semesters; in cases where applicant has only completed one semester at CBU, only that semester will be considered.

  • Applicants cannot have previously won this award in Fall 2024 or Winter 2025.

What You Need to Apply:

  • An essay (max. 3000 characters) outlining your involvement within Cape Breton University and Cape Breton Island.

  • An updated CBU transcript (unofficial).

  • Your CBU student ID card.

  • Two reference letters. It is suggested that references are either professional or academic (i.e., not from a friend).*

  • **If any of these documents are missing in the application form, or if they are submitted through other methods (e.g., email or in-person), the application will not be accepted.

  • *If a professor/employer prefers to submit a reference letter directly to the scholarship committee, the letter must be sent to Ileana_Gold@cbu.ca indicating the name of the student and the student’s ID card number. The student must upload in the application form a document indicating the referee’s name and that they will be sending the reference letter directly to the committee.
